The pilot

One episode that says everything.

The pilot is a mini documentary. It can launch the channel alone, and it establishes the tone every episode after it must keep. The bar: a stranger should be able to say what this channel is about after this single episode.

Slot 04. The subject's portrait lives here when they sign. Until then, an empty interview chair in good light.AWAITING FRAME
The shape

The sit-down

One long conversation, two to three hours, in a place the subject chose. Nothing scheduled after it. The best material arrives late, and the schedule protects that.

The real day

One day of verite around the work: the subject in their actual environment, not a staged shoot. A crew of one or two, never more.

The archive

The subject's existing films as the episode's spine, used by permission. Their finished work carries scenes no small crew could shoot.

The trade

Two days of the subject's time. Final cut stays with the show. The episode actively promotes their body of work to its audience, and that is stated in the ask, not assumed.
